Renovation of the Children’s Library
Blackstilst Studio developed the project documentation for the 1911 children’s library, designed in the Eclectic style.
The project was carried out with consideration of local climatic conditions. A new volume was calculated, and the connection of the annex with the main building was provided.
The interior reflects the cultural context of the place, organically combining it with functionality. The design integrates internal volumes and architectural structuring, embodied in the furniture.
During the project, functional zoning was carried out. The entrance area was designed with maximum efficiency of space use. The central feature of the main hall is a spiral staircase combined with the reception area.
The center of the library is a multi-level hall. Thanks to architectural solutions, the space is filled with natural light. The hall can be used both for everyday functions—reading, working, studying, communicating—and for large events such as lectures, book presentations, and concerts. The second level can be used for work and privacy. The remaining space is divided into several zones.
The children’s library project combines historical heritage with modern architectural solutions, providing functionality, comfort, and versatility of space usage.
